SLIGHTLY FERAL MEDIA

Independent documentation of the people, places, rituals, infrastructure, and strange little ecosystems that make live culture possible.

The Surrounding Ecosystems

EVENT COVERAGE
Small shows leave evidence, too.
Slightly Feral Media photographs live music, performances, festivals, fundraisers, drag, burlesque, and other strange gatherings throughout Kansas City, Lawrence, Topeka, and the surrounding areas. .
BASE FIELD COVERAGE
Cover the cost of admission + a piece of merch for the archive. The raccoon shows up and documents what happened. You receive 20–25 professionally edited photographs for social, promotional, and commercial use with proper credit to Alethea Mehdipour / Slightly Feral Media.
Outside the Kansas City, Lawrence, and Topeka areas, travel costs may also need to be covered.
WANT MORE EVIDENCE?
Additional photography, video, reels, promotional content, and full Promotional Spectacles can be added depending on what you're building. This is an option before or after the event. After the event is limited to what I have already gathered.
FIELD COVERAGE ≠ FIELD NOTE
Photography coverage does not automatically include a Slightly Feral Media article or Field Note. Some of the things the raccoon encounters become stories. Some become part of larger investigations. Some remain photographic evidence in the archive.
What receives editorial coverage is entirely up to the raccoon.🦝
Live Music
Local bands. Touring artists. Opening acts. Tiny rooms. Packed rooms. The shows everybody remembers and the ones twelve humans witnessed on a Thursday night.
Venues
Stages, green rooms, loading docks, architecture, history, scars, infrastructure, and the humans who know why that one breaker should absolutely not be touched.
Backstage Systems
Stagehands. Sound. Lighting. Rigging. Production crews. Promoters. Security. Bartenders. Volunteers. The invisible labor that turns an empty room into an event.
WHAT WE INVESTIGATE
Performance & Subculture
Drag. Burlesque. Goth nights. Alternative communities. Festivals. Rituals, identities, gatherings, and the strange ways humans find one another.
Pyrotechnics & Other Spectacles
Fireworks. Effects. Production systems. Precision. Repetition. Trust. The humans responsible for making spectacular things happen without making them catastrophically interesting.
Creative Communities
The artists, organizers, photographers, makers, independent media, nonprofits, and weird little creatures building culture instead of waiting for somebody else to build it.
If humans are gathering to make something exist, there is probably evidence worth collecting.
Slightly Feral Media documents the live music and creative culture of Kansas City, Lawrence, the places in between, and beyond.
The artists onstage are part of the story. So are the humans running sound, hanging lights, loading trucks, tending bars, building venues, promoting shows, making flyers, photographing rooms, and showing up on strange Thursday nights because somebody made something worth hearing.
We document the people, places, rituals, labor, infrastructure, and communities that make live culture possible.
Concert photography is part of the evidence.
So are the stories.
The raccoon is collecting both.
THE CULTURE IS LEAVING EVIDENCE.
